The Q&A Archives: Purple Bell Heath

Question: I live in zone 7B. I am interested in purchasing a Purple Bell Heaths shrub. I am getting conflicting reports on this plant. Do you think it would grow in the climate conditions in this area?

Thank you.

Answer: Heaths and heathers are marginal in your gardening zone. They prefer cooler summer weather, but you can try growing them. They require acidic, fast-draining soil, and must be given filtered afternoon sunshine to flourish. Best wishes with your heather!
