Are star pines hardy on the east coast in zone 6? If so, do you know where I can locate one? On a recent trip to california, I was entranced by the how symmetrical these trees are. |
Unfortunately, Star Pine or Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria excelsa) is not hardy in cold winter climates such as zone 6. It can however be grown as a house plant or conservatory tree, and is often sold as a florist's mini holiday tree. You might check with local nurseries or house plant suppliers to see if they have any available or if they will stock them in December. |
