Can you give me information on Chinese lanterns? |
Chinese lantern plant (Physalis) is from Asia. It's a vining perennial but is generally grown as an annual. It is grown for the decorative, papery, orange-colored, balloon-like husks that develop in late summer and early fall. These are often used in dried flower arrangements or as holiday decorations. It's an easy plant to grow. Provide average garden soil, water regularly during the growing season, and allow the plant to creep along the ground or climb fences. It will grow in sunny to lightly shaded sites. |
