Monrovia offers a Cottonless cottonwood,
Populus x 'Red Caudina' which could be considered a hybrid poplar.

In general, I would advise caution if you are seeking the extremely fast growing hybrid poplars sometimes advertised as miracle type trees -- in my experience they are sort of too good to be true in that they are short lived, they are weak wooded and tend to break apart in storms. When that happens, not only is it a sad event and potentially a danger, but you have also lost the effort, time and opportunity of planting a better quality and longer lasting tree.

Your local county extension and/or professional nursery staff may be able to help you in selecting a tree that is well suited to your needs and will thrive in the location where you want to plant. Good luck with your tree(s)!
