The bad news is that it does not get cold enough for Lilacs to bloom and it gets too hot for them to be happy in the low desert. The good news is that there are lots of other beautiful plants that thrive in the Sonoran Desert to fill the void. Buddleia (a.k.a Butterfly Bush a.k.a Summer Lilac) has a lovely fragrance and comes in an array of colors including pink, lilac, blue, purple and white. Another beautiful option is Salvi Clevelandii, which has clusters of fragrant lavendar blooms. |
