The Q&A Archives: Dark Damp Garden Site

Question: I am moving to a senior mobile home park with a dark, damp area to plant. What can plant to continue the natural look with some perennials to brighten the area?

Answer: You're wise in trying to keep the natural look because native plants usually grow where conditions for them are best. There are a few annuals that will give bright color under the conditions you describe; Impatiens, Begonias, Cyclamen, Forget-Me-Not,and pansies. Some perennials include: Primrose, Campanula, Clivia and Lamium.
