| I need to plant some of those tall juniper shrubs as a privacy screen along our fence, near our pool. My question is this: How much soil depth to they require for their root system? I was thinking of planting two or three close together in a 7'x 2' area. Also, which variety is the best for this location and use? Thanks so much! Laura |
| Thuja, also called Arborvitae, make excellent privacy screens. They have an upright, columnar growth habit and can be trimmed for a uniform look. They grow only 2'-3' in width, but upwards of 20' (keep them lower with pruning). The roots will require soil 12"-18" in depth. Since your planting area is only 2' wide, Thuja seems to be the best choice. |
