| In my experience, it is best to ask a gardening friend to stop by and water them while you are away. If that is not possible, moving them to a somewhat cooler, slightly darker (still lit, but not as bright) location can help them stay moister longer. Grouping them together and setting them on a pebble tray (pebbles and water with water just to the top of the pebbles, set the plant containers on the pebbles so that the base of the pot is not in the water but instead just above it)can help keep the surrounding humidity up and reduce the need for watering. Some gardeners will place the containers in the bath tub and use the tub as a large pebble tray, then top the plants with a bit of clear plastic to create a humidity dome. This works quite well to keep the soil from drying out for a week or two -- especially if the bathroom is not overheated. Good luck with your plants! |
