I can't seem to find any information on majesty palms i recently purchased. Are they very sensitive--will they survive outside in windy areas of our backyard or will they have to be protected from any wind and direct sun? Someone told me that they were slow growing palms. What is its ideal setting for healthy growth?

Thank you. will appreciate any info you can give.

Ravenea rivularis is sometimes called Majesty palm, but it's also known as Traveler's Palm. It's native to Madagascar, has an upright growth habit (30'-40' tall, 25'-30' wide), and the large, banana-like leaves are held in the shape of a gigantic fan atop an unbranched trunk. It needs protection from strong winds, which can shred the leaves. For best growth, provide full sunshine, average but well draining soil, and water regularly during the growing season. This palm will tolerate seaside breezes but not strong, hot winds. Hope this answers your question!
