| You can prune a liquidambar to reduce the size, but you may lose the shape of the tree with constant pruning. Perhaps a better solution is to purchase a variety that will not exceed the height you desire. Liquidambar orientalis, the Oriental Sweet Gum, reaches 20'-30' in height at maturity and has the same foliage shape and color of the American Sweet Gum. Liquidambar makes a lovely shade tree, providing filtered shade during the summer months. |
