What are some factors that determine the feasability of growing hydroponic tomatoes for profit? Anything specific to central Kentucky would be helpful.

The term "Hydroponic" means circulating a solution of water and nutrients around the roots of plants. The roots are allowed to grow in a soil substitute and the entire growing system is very well regulated. The intial cost to set up a hydroponic growing system is expensive. Generally hydroponic systems are set up in greenhouse type environments - where in the nation you live shouldn't make any difference, unless your winters are very cloudy. If they are, you'll need extra lighting, which adds more expense. Your county extension service (ph# 606/234-5510) can give you guidance on starting and operating an agriculture-based business.
