Considering Fragaria for ground cover. How attracted are snails to this plant? Our potential for snails is very large. Thanks!

Groundcovers are notorius for harboring snails and slugs because they like to live and feed in cool, moist places. A groundcover such as Fragaria will provide both cover and tasty berries for snacking. I'm afraid Fragaria will be more of a draw to slugs and snails than a non-fruiting groundcover. You might consider a substitute, such as cotoneaster or heather. Neither are very tasty to snails because the foliage is tough and spiky (from a snail's point of view!).
