Considering Fragaria for ground cover. How attracted are snails to this plant? Our potential for snails is very large. Thanks! |
Groundcovers are notorius for harboring snails and slugs because they like to live and feed in cool, moist places. A groundcover such as Fragaria will provide both cover and tasty berries for snacking. I'm afraid Fragaria will be more of a draw to slugs and snails than a non-fruiting groundcover. You might consider a substitute, such as cotoneaster or heather. Neither are very tasty to snails because the foliage is tough and spiky (from a snail's point of view!). |
