The Q&A Archives: Cranesbill Care

Question: Will trimming spent flower stems from a cranesbill geranium lead to more blooms?

Answer: Cranesbill is a sprawling plant with the habit of flowering on new stems. If you cut the plant back, you'll force new stems to grow, which should result in additional blooms. However, cutting it back will stop the trailing effect of the plant and it will take on a more mounded appearance.
