| I planted 50 of your small French lavender plants along the edge of my garden here in the Los Angeles area a couple of months ago. They've been in bloom for over a month and, judging from other lavender plants in the area and the quality of your products, I can only imagine that they'll continue to bloom for most of the year. My question is two-fold: when and how much do I prune them? If they bloom continuously in this climate, shouldn't I trim them back several times a year, at least? Right now, they're still small but I'd like them to fill in and become thick and bushy with hundreds of flowers, like the picture on your website. I really appreciate your help with this. | French Lavender is not a culinary lavender and it doesn't have that great English Lavender fragrance,it blooms from spring to frost, and both the foliage and the flowers have a nice clean smell. Prune it lightly in the spring, then again in mid-summer and once again in late fall. Remove only a few inches of growth from each stem. Pruning back will encourage additional branching and lots more flowers. Enjoy! |
