I need to put a 24" box size, small evergreen tree (about 9' to 12' mature height)with a small spread (e.g., 5 to 6') in a small space between a wall and a swingset to provide some screening for the swingset. I'd like something that is not too dense, and is relatively easy to keep trimmed. It will get full or almost full sun. Do you have suggestions?

I'm unable to suggest a tree that will reliably fit the dimensions you give. It's possible to contain the roots of a tree, such as a Leyland Cypress, to reduce its ultimate size, but that would require periodic unpotting and root pruning. May I suggest a large shrub trained into tree form? You'll have the beauty of multiple trunks along with a dense, green canopy of leaves. If this appeals to you, consider camellia, Cercis (redbud), Chamaecyparis (thread-branch cypress), or Viburnum. Hope the above information is helpful!
