The Q&A Archives: Planting And Care Of Daphne

Question: Do you have instructions for planting and the care of daphne odura?

Answer: Patricia,

Plant it in an area with partial sun. It prefers well drained soil with a couple of inches of compost mixed in prior to planting. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. For a tidy, neat appearance, shear annually to shape the plant after the spring bloom period is over.
