We are looking for a screen plant, on a deck with full sun and marine wind exposure. It will be in a planter. Require growth to 20 feet and spread of4-5 feet.

We are considering thuja fastiogata (pyramidalis). Is this appropriate? Any alternates?

Thuja has a columnar growth habit and will adapt to growing in a container. Bamboo is an excellent evergreen used extensively as a screening plant. Bamboo will add an element of interest on your deck - the foliage makes a rustling sound when there's a slight breeze.
