Question: Please can you tell me if it is possible to grow wisteria in Kelowna, BC and, if so, against which wall ie. South-facing should it be grown.

Answer: Wisteria are hardy to winter temperatures that hover between 10F and 20F. If you can find a sunny to semi-sunny site, somewhat protected from dessicating winter winds, wisteria can be sucessfully grown in your gardening region. Chinese wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) is most commonly grown in the west, boasting fragrant flower clusters early in the season. Enjoy your new wisteria!
