We recently put in a new patio hardscape with a large raised planter. I am Looking for a tree for the raised planter. Citeria are: must not have agressive roots that will blowout planter should not grow larger than 20 to 25 feet Some color would be great, but do not want a messy plant that stains concrete If it was deciduous that woudl be fine as it would allow more sun in the winter. any suggestsion??? |
Some of the smaller trees, called patio trees, will grow happily in the site you describe. Evergreen tree suggestions include Acacia, Citrus (lemon or lime), Cassia (gold medallion tree), Leptospermum (Australian tea tree), Pyrus kawakamii (evergreen pear) and Stenocarpus sinuatus (firewheel tree). Deciduous tree suggestions include Cercidiphyllum (katsura), Erythrina (coral tree), Malus (flowering crabapple), Laburnum (goldenchain) and Vitex (chaste tree). Hope one of these suggestions appeals to you! |
