My lantanas come up each year and they start off being very low growing with abundance of flowers. Do I have to trim them back to keep them contained and do I do this even though they are flowering? |
Edith, Lantana varieties vary a lot in height and spread. You can trim one to maintain a lower or a more compact form. This trimming may be done at any time and in fact you probably will be cutting them when some blooms are present. They tend to bloom in waves and so a good time to do the pruning is after a major flush of blooms is done. After pruning they will regrow and bloom very well again if provided a boost of fertilizer and adequate soil moisture. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
