Are yellow leaves normal on a copper false chestnut tree (Shogun series)? This is new growth. Old leaves are green.

The foliage on your Castanopsis should be deep green above and bronze beneath. If new foliage is emerging yellow rather than green, give them a few weeks to mature. If color doesn't change to deep green, you can fertilize your tree to help it green up. Sometimes soil is too acidic or alkaline to meet a plant's requirements.(Soil that's too acidic or alklaline can bind up nutrients and make them unavailable to plants.) If you fertilize, be sure to apply in amounts recommended on the package label - too much of a good thing can have dire results! Best wishes with your tree!
