| I have some three year old mums. They are great, but they've grown so large that they are taking over the bed they are in. Can I simply use a shovel to divide the plant into three or four plants? If yes, at what time of the year? |
| Chrysanthemums should be cut back after flowering, but wait until spring to divide or take cuttings. In spring you'll notice new sprouts around the outside edge of the old plant. Either pull these away (roots and all) and pot them up, or use your shovel to divide the entire plant. Replant only the new growth and discard the older center portion of the plant. |
