| Hello, I was wondering if DWARF GOLDEN THREADLEAF FALSE CYPRESS (Chamaecyparis pisifera filifera 'Aurea Nana') can be trained into a carpet like ground cover less than 30" tall if massed together and pruned? I really like the look of the "mop" like Cypress, and am hoping to use it as more of a ground cover than a single plant. However, the area I wish to plant it has other plants only 36" tall max., thus the need to keep it shorter. If it can not be trained in that way, is there another golden colored cypress that could, or a golden colored Juniper that is more carpet like? Thank you. |
| Pruning will destroy the natural mounding form of 'Aurea Nana'. A better choice for the effect you want to create is a smaller version called 'Golden Mops'. This plant has threadlike branchlets and forms a 1-2' mound. |
