| Since the paver stones will prevent soil compaction in the root area, most any type of grass will grow in the pockets. Those that perform best in your region include blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis) which tolerates drought and loves heat and sunshine, and Buffalo grass (Buchloe dactyloides).
