| Pre-Purchase, I'm trying to Identify a Tree Species form the following data; A)Evergreen with dense folage, B)Smooth White Bark, C)Fairly Fast Grower, D)Elongated Leaves-similar to a Privet, E)25' or More in height at maturity. No Local Nurseryman have been able to identify, even-though they do grow locally. |
| Without actually seeing the tree, I'm only venturing an educated guess - I think it's holly oak (Quercus ilex). This is an evergreen tree with a dense, rounded canopy; leaves are usually oval to lance shaped, 1-3" long; bark is smooth and white when young, changing to a gray-white with maturity. If this description doesn't fit the tree, try taking a sample of the foliage and a snapshot of the tree to your local Cooperative Extension office. Folks there are familiar with your local flora and can probably identify it for you. (Phone 805-781-4316) |
