What can be done to prevent chrysanthemums from flowering too early in the season? Last summer they flowered all during July and August and did not look too great in September and October. Would cutting them down severely delay the flowering cycle sufficiently to make them bloom in the Fall? |
I used to have the same problem only it was compounded by the fact that my mums were rather "leggy" and thin. I corrected the legginess and delayed bloom by cutting the mums back twice a year. In June, I cut back the chrysanthemums to 2" inheight. In July, I cut them back to 6" in height. Since I have started doing this I have full, lush mums that bloom September through October. |
