Patt was kind enough to respond to my previous question about street trees for San Francisco. Is there a good street tree you could recommend other that what I had listed for a mild-moderate fog area? I would really appreciate your feed back! Thanks!! We are "supposed" to plant only evergreens, but I would be interested in your comments (many trees have not done well here). We are looking for a stately tree with a good canopy.

Ohhh... sorry, I thought you were looking for confirmation on suitability for the trees you had already selected! The following trees are worthy of consideration:
Deciduous trees - Platanus x acerifolia (London Plane); Gingko biloba (Gingko or Maidenhair Tree); Morus alba (White Mulberry); Sophora japonica (Japanese Pagoda Tree). Evergreen trees - Pyrus kawakamii (Evergreen Pear); Arbutus unedo (Strawberry Tree); Callistemon citrinus (Lemon Bottlebrush); Ceratonia siliqua (Carob); Metrosideros ecelus (New Zealand Christmas Tree); Cinnamomum camphora (Camphor); Ulmus parvifoloia (Chinese Elm). All perform well in your foggy clime.

Best wishes with your new tree!
