I have a 4 foot colorado blue spruce that I want to look good for christmas. One of the branches is growing out, like a bulge from rest of tree. Now the tree is not pyrmid shaped. How do I trim the branch, and when? Thank you

You would prune it in late winter to early spring when temperatures are above freezing but the buds are still dormant. (In other words, before it starts to grow for the year.) Cut just above a side bud or branch so the new growth will conceal the cut.
