If I do not currently have aphids, how do I keep ladybugs in my garden? |
The situation is kind of a Catch-22. If you already have ladybugs in your garden, but no aphids, it's because the ladybugs have wiped them out. If you do not have ladybugs, it's probably because you don't have any aphids. Ladybugs will travel around in search of aphids and will remain where there's an ample supply. There's really no way to coax ladybugs to stay in your garden if you do not have the aphids they crave. Gardeners have tried coating their plants with a sugar-water solution to keep ladybugs around, thinking that they feed on the honeydew aphids excrete. But alas, ladybugs and their larvae prefer to munch on real live aphids! |
