We cannot find this tree in California. We have looked under the name listed above, and also have included the name Armstrong since it appears to be a Columnar variety. We have tried via Frank Burkard at Burkard Nursery in Pasadena with no luck. Are there issues with this tree that indicate we shouldn't plant it? Can one buy this tree in California??? |
The scarlet maple you're looking for will not perform well in your hot summer climate, which is probably why you're having difficulty finding it locally. I wouldn't recommend growing it because the heat will dessicate the leaves in mid-summer. I did find one potential source for you, however, so you may want to discuss the probability of success with the grower: Lemuria Nursery, 7820 Serpa Ln., Dixon, CA 95620; phone 707-678-4481. Best wishes with your landscape! |
