I purchased your Porcupine Grass in Aberdeen, SD. Can I take this grass into the house in the winter time? Or, can I leave the grass outside? How will it winter in NW Wisconsin? Please advise how to take care of it for the winter. Thank you!

Miscanthus sinensis 'Strictus' (Porcupine Grass) is hardy to USDA zone 5. It won't survive your winter weather if left in the ground. This is a deciduous grass so the top will die down at the end of the growing season. It won't make a very desirable houseplant without foliage! What you can try to do is pot it up now, wait for the first frost to kill the foliage down, then trim the dead foliage away and store the potted roots in a garage or shed, where temperatures remain above freezing. In the spring the roots should send out new sprouts.

Best wishes with your Porcupine Grass!
