Some annuals seem to thrive under hot, sunny conditions. Those that perform best include Helianthus (sunflower), Helichrysum (strawflower), Lavatera (mallow), Nicotiana, Portulaca (rose moss), Salvia, Scabiosa (pincushion flower), Thunbergia (Black-Eyed Susan vine), Tithonia (Mexican sunflower), and Zinnia.
