How do I take care of peonies? Do I cut them back for winter or Just let them die?

Peonies are perennial plants and their tops will die down after the first frost. After the tops have wilted and died, cut everything off at ground level and spread a few inches of mulch over the top of the soil. In the spring, push the mulch back and new stems and leaves will appear, followed by beautiful flowers.
