The Q&A Archives: Peonies

Question: How do I take care of peonies? Do I cut them back for winter or Just let them die?

Answer: Peonies are perennial plants and their tops will die down after the first frost. After the tops have wilted and died, cut everything off at ground level and spread a few inches of mulch over the top of the soil. In the spring, push the mulch back and new stems and leaves will appear, followed by beautiful flowers.
