The Q&A Archives: Winter Conditions

Question: I live in zone 8 (boundary unclear). IS it too late in the year Dec)to buy and repot shrubs and small trees? How should I protect them from cold weather?

Answer: Russ,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. We are transitioning to a new Q&A system and your question was unfortunately lost in the transition. I have discovered it now and hope this reply is not too late to be of help.

You can buy and repot shrub any time of the year in your area. Unless they are a cold tender tropical they will not need special protection in your part of the state. If they are a tropical shrub you will need to move them in to protected location whenever a freeze is forcast.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
