When my son was 7, we planted and orange seed in a container and it sprouted. That was 11 years ago. The tree is now planted in a sheltered location in our back yard and over 9 feet tall. But it never bloomed or fruited yet. Will it? We live in Citrus County, Florida. |
Susan, Yes, in time. Seedlings are slow to mature and come into bearing. This is one of the reasons fruit trees are grafted. It is difficult to say just how long it will take for your tree to start bearing. It also needs full sun or close to it in order to have the energy necessary to produce blooms and fruit. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
