I have never planted anything, and I just recieved begonias as a gift. I pulled all the weeds from the flower beds and I would like to know if I need o do anything else before planting them. Do I need to buy soil and fertilizer, if so what kind?

Amanda,

If your soil is fairly loose and fertile you can just spade or rototill it up to loosen it and then plant. If your soil is hard and has not been improved to your knowledge then mix 2 inches of compost in when you spade or rototill the soil. Then plant the begonias. Fertilize them after planting with a soluble liquid plant food such as Miracle Gro or Peter's Plant Food.
