I would like to know what the best potted palms would be for inside a building whose major source of light is overhead incandescent and indirect sunlight from southern exposure windows.

Glenn,

That setting is pretty low in light intensity and thus would be a difficult place for most palms to thrive. Your best bet would be a Parlor Palm (Chamaedorea elegans).
