Hello. I would like to know if three of my country's ( Bulgaria ) most popular spring flowers will grow in NC? We will be moving to Garner next month, and the house has already a gorgeous garden. I will do my best to try and maintain it, but would like to add my own touch. If you think that snowflakes, crocus olivieri and lily of the valley will grow here, where do you suggest I get them, either the Internet, from some website, or someplace else? I doubt they are going to have them in the local stores. I have checked Lowe's, K mart and walmart and they didn't have them! Thanks
Diana

Lily of the Valley or Convallaria majalis should grow for you in shady spot with evenly moist soil. It is sometimes sold in pots in the spring when it is blooming, but it is more often sold as bare pips in the fall for fall planting. They are often included along with spring flowering bulbs.

Leucojum (Snowflakes) and Crocus are also usually sold in the fall and that is when the best selection is available. Both should grow in your area. Spring flowering bulbs are widely sold for planting in the fall so I don't think it will be at all difficult to find these locally once they come on the market. Enjoy your new garden!
