| My vegetables grow fine but they dont produce very much fruit. Could it be to much nitrogen, if so how can I neutrilize it? |
| It's possible that your veggies are producing lots of leaves at the expense of fruit, but other factors can inhibit fruiting. Too much shade for sun-loving plants; not enough heat for heat-loving plants; no insect activity from over-use of insecticides; raining or cool conditions while your plants are in flower. If there's too much nitrogen in the soil, it will eventually leach out with rain and water from the hose. The only sure way to know whether or not your soil has excess nitrogen is to have your soil tested. The results of the test will also include suggestions for improving the soil condition in your veggie garden. Contact your local Cooperative Extension office for a soil testing kit.
