This is fairly common in the spring time. Luckily we do not have fire ants in PA so that is not something you need to worry about. Ants are somewhat beneficial and so it is more of a nuisance. If you like, you can rake them flat or wash them flat with a garden hose. If ants begin to come into your house or you feel there are excessive numbers in the lawn, you could contact your county extension for recommendations as to how to control them chemically. They will have the most up to date information on what to use and how to use it correctly and safely for best results. This is important especially if you have children or pets who play on the lawn.
