The Q&A Archives: How do i care for my new Spathiphylum?

Question: I just bought a Spath and have no idea how to make sure it continues to grow. This is my first plant and i have it inside, is that ok?

Answer: Yes this is a great houseplant. It does well in bright but indirect light and needs soil that is evenly moist but not sopping wet. When the surface begins to dry, water it to soak the soil. (Do not wait so long that it wilts between waterings.) Empty the saucer of any drained water. Fertilizer only about once a month from spring to fall at the lowest (weakest) rate listed on the label. Use a water soluble fertilizer for foliage plants such as 10-10-10 plus minors. This plant is sensitive to fertilizer salts building up in the soil do not overfeed it. Enjoy!
