Zone 8 is the southern extreme of raspberry country, but you can increase their success by enriching the soil with lots of compost, mulching well, and watering frequently. Barbara Pleasant, author of "Warm-Climate Gardening" recommends "Heritage", and everbearer, for it's heat tolerance and high yields. I have also seen 'Southland' touted. 'Heritage' is offered by Burpee (check out the on-line catalog at http://www.burpee.com) or call 800/888-1447). I can't find a retail mail-order source for 'Southland', but you'll probably find it offered at local nurseries.
