Answer: Raspberries are tenacious plants so it will probably take a sustained effort to get rid of them. I would start by digging them up thoroughly by the roots as best you can. Once you have the lawn started, the repeated frequent short mowing should help eventually exhaust any remaining roots. You may also have to use an herbicide such as glyphosate painted on the stumps.
