will this plant grow in northeast georgia?

Sheila,

That depends on which calliandra you are referring to. There are several species of the plant. Most are tropical to semi tropical and would not be hardy in your zone. One type is marginally hardy in your area. I suggest you plant it in a large container so you can bring it in to a protected location during freezing weather. If you can provide a species name and post it in another question to the Home Depot website I'll be happy to try and be more specific.
