What plants (shrubs or small trees) have leaves all year round? I want to plant more trees and shrubs, but only want those that have color and leaves all year round and in the winter. I do not want plants that their leaves fall off during the winter, or they die down to the ground like mums or hostas. Would like the ones that look alive and pretty ALL year! Thanks!

Unfortunately your question did not include your state or zip code so I am unable to make specific plant recommendations -- it really depends on which region and climate zone you live in as to what will thrive in your area. I would suggest you work with your local county extension and nursery personnel to analyze the growing conditions in your yard and help identify evergreen plants that would be most likely to grow well there for you. They will need to know information such as the size of the area you want to plant, whether it is sunny or shady and at what time of day, if it is windy or sheltered and if the soil is especially wet or dry there. Based on a more detailed understanding of the planting site and your design goals they can then make specific suggestions. Good luck with your planting!
