| Soil preparation and good aftercare are both key to a successful sod job. I would suggest you work with your county extension to run some basic soil tests and determine which amendments would be best for growing lawn grass, and which procedures to follow in preparing your soil prior to laying the sod. They should also be able to help you plan a lawn maintenance program to keep the sod healthy and growing well after it is installed.
