The Q&A Archives: How to get rid of foxtail in my lawn

Question: I have an established bermuda lawn which is just beginning to grow. What is the best way of getting rid of foxtail without hurting the lawn?

Answer: A pre-emergent herbicide applied in early spring prior to seed germination is the recommended method for annual weeds such as foxtail. Pull plants that have germinated before they set seed. Maintaining a healthy lawn is the best defense against weeds over the long term, as they can't gain a toehold in a thick vigorous turf.
