| I just wanted to thank you for returning my answer so promptly. It's wonderful to know that there is a place to get help. Question: I have a Rhododendron that is several years old. It was here when I moved in. It is about 4 ft high and has about 5 thick woody branched on it with no leaves except for the upper top parts of the shrub. I have been nursing this shrub for the past 3 years and up until now there is evidence of some new growth finally appearing at the base of the shrub. I wonder if I should just leave it alone or trim off all of the woody branches and leave the new growth alone so in time it will grow and fill out like it is suppose to do. What would you suggest? | If there is new growth appearing at the base, I'd wait to see how it fills out. You can always trim out the woody stuff later. Also, old rhodies that have gotten woody and leggy can be pruned back severely, although it may take awhile for them to bloom again. Good luck! |
