have noticed a white fungus growing on our gardenias which are planted in pots. they are not doing great and we have tried spraying them with a sulphur solution bought from the local nursery which was suggested by them but they seem to be getting worse with the fungus

Michael,

The only foliage disease of gardenia that fits that description is powdery mildew. There are a number of products that will control it including products containing neem oil, potassium bicarbonate, bayleton, and funginex.
