Question: How do I protect my basil plants from insects. Three plants was destroyed already by these pesky insects. They chew huge holes in the leaves.

Answer: Large holes in leaves can be caused by caterpillars or snails/slugs. They can be excluded by using a summer weight row cover. You could also try a repellent such as a garlic based spray. Since this is a food plant be sure to read and follow the label instructions carefully.
